At the beginning of the forties of the last century, the priest of the Latin community in Bethlehem found Father Norbito Rishani, during the season of consecration of homes on the Epiphany Day, that one of the elderly women who was living alone in her home after her family emigrated to the lands of expatriation had been dead for days in her home. And that was the reason behind the establishment of the elderly home, and during that period there were a number of women living in the unit without any care or breadwinner. The late Father Norberto Richani, the priest of the Latin parish, who had the idea, presented the idea to the board of directors of the association and its women’s branch to establish a home for the elderly. The interest of the late philanthropist Jamila Hanna Al-Ama, a member of the women’s branch of the association, is the cornerstone of the foundation of the house, when she donated her share in her father’s house for the benefit of establishing the house, and the association bought the rest of the shares from her sisters, and the house was officially opened in 1944, and the women of the women’s section were the ones who You take care of the elderly and take care of them.
In 1954, the Society’s management agreed with the General President of the Sisters of the Closed Paradise to assign them to run the house, and since that date, our sisters, the Sisters of the Closed Paradise, are thankful for managing the house and taking care of the elderly.
